Casey's Kitchen

Day before Casey's wedding shower.

The double cabinet to the upper left, Jacob found the doors along the road waiting to be picked up by the garbage pick up. I took them and sanded them a little and just re stained them. Randy built a cabinet to put them on. The tile for the back splash was done by Casey and Jacob....very, very nice!

New lites above the island and the sink.

Countertop is all solid surface, any scratches can be sanded out.

Bathroom with wall paneling.

Casey and Jacob completely gutted this bathroom and did a beautiful job on it. Randy did the wood paneling and Chris did the electrical.

All new crown molding around the ceiling, new trim around the doors and windows, new base trim around the floor and a new glass door going out into the front porch.

This has taken me way too long to post but here it is, finally! Casey's house has been a work in progress for about a year or two. It started out to just be a kitchen remodel until we went over one day to see that she had decided to take out the wall in between the kitchen and the living room. And yes it does open it up very nicely, but it also added a lot more work....filling in hole in the floor and ceiling that the wall took out and made it lots more obvious that the whole place needed new trim around the windows, doors and long the floor. And it didn't stop there either! One day Randy goes over and Casey decided that she wants to gut the bathroom and redo that also! Randy was NOT pleased at all! There was a lot of "Do NOT mess with any more rooms in this house until you get the other ones done or I will NOT help you put them all back together!" So to make a long story short and to not linger on all the tears that were shed(Casey's, because her dad insisted she help with all of it) it all got done....and just in time for her wedding shower. Everything turned out really nice. The tiling was done by Casey and Jacob. They put the tiles for the back splash in the kitchen and Jacob did the shower and the floor in the bathroom and it all looks beautiful! So it was a long process and I've tried to include a few before pictures of what it looked like just a day before the shower, hope you enjoy!

Just Because......

My daughter Courtney was telling me how she took some pictures of her tulips so it got me playing with my camera.....that's what we do to each other, we make each other stretch for trying new things, it's gotta be done!!!! Have to play!! So here are just a few pictures I was taking of some flowers I was given for Mothers Day that still have a few hanging in there!

I know, she's not a flower, she's a Princess! Just had to throw one in of Austyn with her B-day cake.

Princess Austyn turns 6!

My beautiful granddaughter Austyn turns 6 today. Her norm is Princess dresses, crowns, princess movies and books and pretty much anything Princess. We all totally agree she will be famous some day performing in front of many! She is more comfortable in an outfit that is as outlandish as she can make it and totally uncomfortable in jeans and a t-shirt! "The other kids will stare at me grandma when I wear this", this is what I heard one day when I was walking her into school on a very rare day that she actually agreed to wear jeans and a t-shirt. She is completely comfortable in front of the whole school performing her pom pom show and even more at ease in front of the whole family singing! But please don't ask her to wear anything with a collar....those are only to be worn for camping! (I have no idea where that comes from but apparently it is pretty serious because she will not even try them on, dress or shirt!) So here is to Austyn who we all love and can't wait to see on the big stage...HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY AUSTYN!

Amana Colonies!

The board's on the sides of the buildings had grape vines crawling up them.

He's giving me that "come on, I'm not waiting for you" look!
Randy and I took a quick trip to Marshalltown, Iowa this past weekend for a graduation party. Kind of on the way, a little bit south of our route, we stopped at a place called the Amana Colonies. It is a very interesting and beautiful place. A gorgeous valley and wonderful shops where the people hand make everything. There are wine shops, jewelery, chocolate, furniture, a woolen shop and on and on. I hope you can see from the pictures what a beautiful little place this is and please look it up online because there are bed and breakfasts there to stay at and it is a really great place for a weekend getaway. We are definitely planning on going back so we can really check things out more thoroughly. Here is the website, enjoy...www.AmanaColonies.com

Awesome friends and relatives, great food and an all around good time! Thank you to everyone who was able to make it and for all the lovely gifts, it was a good day!
