2012 Alzheimers Walk

Well it was that time a year again, the walk to help raise awareness and some funds to fight Alzheimer's. Mine and Randy's family have a very personal tie to this disease, unfortunately. We lost my mother for 8 years and that is exactly how it feels! Losing them slowly is a horrible thing to watch and be a part of. My mother passed away 2 years ago and Randy's mother has had it for I think 8 years and is in the final stages. Watching a loved one look at you with no idea who you are is unexplainable, just sad beyond anything. And how they portray it on tv shows is just not even close to how hard it really is!. For instance one day with my mom, my sister and I took turns taking her to the clinic for check-ups. I knew when I picked her up from the home she had no idea who I was but she looked at me as though I was familiar. She was pretty quiet all the way to the clinic and my daughter Megan was meeting us there. We met up with Meg and mom looked at her blankly as Meg chatted to her. When we got on the elevator mom turned to Meg and said"Megan, what on earth do you have in your nose?!?!" Meg had gotten a nose piercing on the side of her nose. We laughed and talked on the elevator ride and as soon as she stepped off the elevator she was gone. That confused look was back. It's so frustrating, this disease, there is nothing you can do to help them or make things better, just try our best to take care of them. So every year we walk to try to raise some money for the association to hopefully find a cure or at the very least something that will slow it down. I'd like to thank everyone who contributed, we had a fantastic group and they raised over 1500.00 this year. But I would like to say a special thanks to 4 little girls who made bracelets out of yarn and sold them the day of the walk. They raised 39.00 all by themselves! How awesome is that?!?!? Thanks to Lia, Austyn, Jaden and Mya. You are 4 very special little girls!

Late as usual but definitely not forgotten. Here is a very Happy Anniversary to Casey and Jacob and I know there will be many many more!!! Love you guys!!!!
