State Fair and Alan Jackson

This past weekend Randy and I took a mini vacation over to the Minneapolis State Fair. What an awesome fair and what made it even more wonderful this year was going to see MY favorite country western star Alan Jackson! We didn't have front row seats but it just didn't matter, his show was fantastic! The whole weekend was lots of fun. We did tons of walking and of course eating! The state fair food is the best! And a little excitement with riding the city bus for the first time. We got on the wrong one once, didn't realize they don't make change so got asked to get off once and continually bothered the poor drivers asking if this was where we are supposed to get off! Met lots of nice people, mostly on the bus when we were on the wrong one because of course we had to ride it twice as far! Pretty sure we had either "tourist" or "idiots" written on our foreheads, but it was a fun time! All in all it was a great weekend just sorry it went so fast! Here are a few photos from our weekend!

Alan Jackson, I didn't take my big camera, I was afraid they wouldn't let me take it in. I regret that now, my phone really sucks at pictures!

After our bus ride this is what we saw walking back to our hotel. Pretty beautiful area!

Coffee Table

For Meg's new house Randy thought it would be fun to turn an old door and a storm window into a coffee table for her. Both of these items came out of her house. We plan on putting a piece of glass on top of this yet to be a bit stronger surface than the single pane glass storm window.

Vanity and Linen Cabinet.

Here are a huge linen cabinet that slid into an existing closet (very huge) and a vanity. They are made out of oak with a custom mixed stain. The vanity is 72" long and is $900.00. The linen cabinet is 48" wide x 84" tall x 24" deep and is $830.00. Randy specializes in making custom built-ins. He's able to build just about anything to fit into existing spaces.

It took 6 months and a lot of work but it sure turned out nice. Randy did all the wood work in our shop, cabinets and trim. The doors were bought from Menards and we stained a custom stain for Meg on all the woodwork. Meg painted all the floors with concrete paint and then stenciled all the designs. It really turned out to be a beautiful house!
