This is a perfect example of why it takes us so long to get some projects done! Our own fault I know, we let the grandkids come out and 4 wheelers need to be ridden and bows need to be shot! What's a grandparent to do! Well seriously we need to work!
Not continuously take pictures of such important things like this face!
Or this concentration! Ok enough of Lia and Peyton, the following pictures are of a really big hutch Randy built for a couple here in Colby. I am trying to show it from start to finish. Below is a picture of the base cabinet painted black, before the doors and drawers are installed. Sitting on top of the base are the unfinished drawers. And at the bottom of the base you can see the unfinished base trim that will wrap around the bottom.
And this next picture is my rack that I use when I start painting and staining, it is very handy for items to dry on. Here you can see a number of parts, some for the hutch and some for a kitchen we have also started.
Below is a stack of unfinished shelves waiting to be painted.

Below is the top for the base cabinet before I varnished it. It is quarter sawn oak and this picture really doesn't do it justice at all. You'll see what I mean in the final picture!
Here are the doors before being sanded or painted. They look pretty rough but like I said they haven't been sanded yet, we make all our own doors in our shop. This way we are able to make cabinets any size we want and we don't worry about getting stuck having to use a "standard" size cabinet or having to upcharge for a "special order." Randy just figures out the sizes of cabinets to best utilize the space, we try to never use filler boards.
And I apologize for this next picture because it is upside down, this is the top of the hutch and the only way I could paint it is to have it upside down otherwise it would fall, so please use your imagination, thank you!
These black boards might not look like much but they are the drawer fronts. The edges have been sanded to make it look worn from age.
And here are the doors painted and sanded some for a worn look. They look a lot different after being sanded, painted, edges rubbed and then varnished. This is the process I did on this whole piece. Very time consuming but really looks nice when it's all done so well worth the time!
And once again I ask you to use your imagination to look at the top, upside down again! Sorry! But this time it is painted and has the bead board back on it, ready for installing!Yeah!
